GATEWAY
for Gifted and Talented Students |
The Bartow County School System's Gifted and Talented Education with Accelerated Youth (GATEWAY) program serves students in K-12 by providing academic challenges for those who are intellectually advanced. Students who demonstrate a high degree of intellectual, academic, and/or creative abilities may be nominated by individuals with knowledge of the student's abilities. These individuals include teachers, parents or guardians, counselors, administrators, self, and/or peers. Referrals for consideration will be reviewed by the screening committee to determine if the student is eligible for further evaluation. Students who transfer from gifted programs within the state of Georgia have reciprocity to the Bartow program. Out-of-state students must meet Georgia requirements for eligibility. The State Board of Education determines eligibility criteria for placement in the gifted program. For a summary of those criteria or for further information, please contact the GATEWAY Program teacher at Cloverleaf (Mrs. Ellen Freeman) or Dr. Lynda Newsome, Coordinator for Gifted in Bartow County (770-606-5800, ext. 2063). |
